NDG Food Depot Cultural Project

The Cultural Depot is located in the NDG Food Depot, and is run by and for its users to serve the entire Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood. The project aims to provide a public forum for residents to express their concerns on social, political and environmental issues. Among the activities sponsored are a coffee house, Café Depot, and a community newspaper, Cornucopia. By providing non-food services, the project builds a sense of community and breaks the isolation experienced by low-income people. The coffee house provides people a chance to express themselves through poetry or performances, or to discuss topics of interest. Journal writing and other workshops animated by outside speakers are also offered.
