LANE REDEVELOPMENT IN MILE-END

Éco-Action, a grass-roots initiative, developed this project aimed at transforming lanes, or back streets, in the Mile-End district. Historically these lanes provided important areas for the community, where children could play and neighbours could meet. Most lanes are currently being used as places to store trash and park cars. Through Éco-Action's revitilization program, the lanes will once more become community gathering spots, used for staging various neighbourhood meetings and engendering better communication in this ethnically and linguistically diverse Montreal neighbourhood. The project will provide green spaces and playgrounds close to where many families reside, in an area where such spaces are relatively scarce.
