This group is dedicated to promoting personal, communal and social transformation and freedom, specifically though collective actions designed to combat poverty and racism. Formerly the Community Development Advisory and Networking Committee to the Certificate Program in Community Development at Dalhousie University, its members represent local grass-roots organizations run by and for low-income residents living in the Halifax region. Participants meet on a regular basis to support one another's work. This often includes such direct action as signing petitions, participating in demonstrations, taking part in fundraising and special events, and lobbying. Activities also include workshops and courses, programs, networking, and creating a resource and retreat centre.
