JUST HOUSING Just Housing
is a joint project of the Community Education and Development Association
(C.E.D.A.) and Hope Centre Health Care Inc. It demonstrates how community-based,
non-profit housing organizations and housing cooperatives for low income
families can serve to re-circulate and re-invest housing incomes, expenditures
and profits within an inner-city economy. In concert with the North End
Housing Project (NEHP), the partners have implemented a housing renovation
training program for unemployed residents of Winnipeg's north end. By
building community-based working groups, they are creating new financing
strategies and models for converting existing housing into affordable
community-owned housing that will result in spin-off local job creation. |
