Britannia Community Services Centre "OUR OWN BACKYARD" |

|
The Community Mapping program aims to strengthen a sense of community identity and appreciation for the heritage of Grandview-Woodland, one of Vancouver's oldest city neighbourhoods. It is a joint project of the Britannia Community School, Simon Fraser University's Institute for Humanities and the Grandview-Woodland Area Council. Residents create maps which may take a wide variety of forms: drawing, painting, photography, modelling, collage, mural, or such oral media as songs, poems, storytelling, or theatre. Each map highlights points of cultural, economic and social significance. The activity is open to all and helps provide a shared sense of history and promotes inter-generational and cross-cultural exchanges and understanding. Our Own Backyard |
